    The custom role is seeing a custom post type only as it should but that role does not see a custom taxonomy associated with that cpt. Is there something I can change in the settings to allow just that custom taxonomy to be seen by that role? When I do anything with the other taxonomy settings, that role sees a lot of stuff it shouldn’t.

    Hi Lisa,

    When custom taxonomy is registered there is an argument called capabilities that can be passed and that defines permissions needed to manage, edit, delete, and assign for custom taxonomy. This argument is optional and by default it has manage_categories and edit_posts values. If the author of custom taxonomy you have didn’t assign custom capabilities then, “Manage Categories” capability is the one that allows to manage custom taxonomy.
