role hierarchy

Does UM role settings take precedence over other role settings? I am using memberpress for registration/billing, and UM for the community/profile.

I have another plugin I use for scheduling appointments with mentors, and need to allow a certain level of backend access. It looks like UM overwrites all settings and has ultimate say?
