• Hi,

Just wondering if any one could put me in the right sense of direction. I happened Tom come across front end developing jobs the other day and I didn’t realise that I was doing this and I wish to progress in this direction with WordPress. But what I also do I see customise the backend for the end user and I just wondered whether this still technically comes under front end developer or back end developer or another professional role, e.g WordPress developer or website architecture?

Just customising the backend is a start, but then I work with the client to interpreter third parties such as apis and hooks so the picture in the end look so like one whole system based on events and triggers.

Again going this direction is more web application development on WordPress?

Any information would be much insightful so I know where I stand in the development field.

Can you do me a huge favor? Ask this question somewhere else. Please. And it’s not you. ??

These forums are strictly support forums and not discussion forums. That’s not unintentional. These forums are for support and the Developing with WordPress forum is for code questions.

A perfect topic here is “I tried wp_function() and it did not work as I thought. Here’s the code I tried.” When I come across that sort of topic, a tear forms in my eye.

This topic here is more about the role of a developer. That sort of philosophical career advice just is not for here. And again, it’s not you.

I’m closing this topic and suggest you consider raising it on other sites. Here’s just two that I know of. They have some requirements for joining but they do cover many topics that are not directly related to support.

    https://www.reddit.com/r/Wordpress/

There are others too but those are a good start.

Thank you for understanding. I’m now closing this topic.
