Here’s the issue. I’m using the Popup Maker plugin and the SEO Framework plugin.
It looks like the SEO plugin writes pages into the sitemap.xml that aren’t there. These pages are popup windows generated by the Popup Maker plugin.

Inside the sitemap.xml it looks like this
    https://mydomain.com/popup/page1/
    https://mydomain.com/popup/page2/
    https://mydomain.com/popup/page3/

But these pages don’t exist which is why Google Search Console will give out a warning that needs to be fixed.

Now I thought an easy way would be to Disallow these pages in the robots.txt but SEO Framework doesn’t offer to either edit the robots.txt manually or to disable the output of a robots.txt completely in order to upload my own one.
    Or am I missing something?

I need to fix this issue, otherwise I’d have to delete the SEO Framework and use something else. Which would be a pity since I really used to love the plugin until now.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hey Andree, sorry about that ?? Can you share a link to the exact plugin you are using? I found multiple popup makers. I will try installing it in a testing environment and look for a simple way to mitigate the issue you are having. Thanks!

    Hi Andre,

The popups’ post type shouldn’t be marked with rewrite=>true, this is a minor oversight in the popup plugin, and I’ll notify the author. (edit: done)

To quickly fix this, go to the General SEO settings meta box. There, under “Post Types”, you need to select “Popups”. Save the settings, and the entries should be gone.

I hope this helps! Cheers ??
