    My web site is Foothillsevents.com

I have spent many hours adjusting the SEO in WordPress, however when I search for the “Foothills Events Grass Valley” this is what I see in Google:
    Foothills Events Center
    foothillsevents.com/
A description for this result is not available because of this site’s robots.txt – learn more.
You visited this page on 6/4/14.

I unchecked the search engines permission under Settings>Readings. How can I find the file or code that’s blocking the site?
Thank you in advance for your help!
    Julia

    I got the following response:
Your site is currently returning error (HTTP/1.1 500 Internal Server Error) and possibly malicious codes (not certain though).

-Can you login to your admin?
-Do you have any recent backup of your site?
-What do you have in your robots.txt file?
-Are you using any SEO plugin (which one)?

    Julia:
-Can you login to your admin? yes
-Do you have any recent backup of your site? yes (wp engine backs up daily)
-What do you have in your robots.txt file?
    User-agent: *
    Disallow: /wp-admin/
    Disallow: /wp-includes/

-Are you using any SEO plugin (which one)? Yoast

    Response:
Can you deactivate all plugins and revert to a default WordPress theme (say 2014) and let us see your site?

    Julia:
    I created a duplicate site of foothillsevents.com
I switched from the custom air theme to twentyfourteen and deactivated all plugins. Thank you for takling a look:
    https://foothillsevent.staging.wpengine.com/

I can give you access to the dashboard if you need it.
    Thank you for your help!
    Julia

WP Engine actually provides 24/7 support, which you already pay for, and they have access to everything.

I recommend getting in touch with them, as they’re your best bet to solve this.

    Oh, that’s odd.

Ok then, so assuming you’re referring to https://foothillsevents.com this is your robots.txt file: https://foothillsevents.com/robots.txt

Nothing in there is blocking Google from the main site at all (just the Dashboard and its resource files), so unless something is happening at the server level to treat the Googlebot differently (you’ll need to ask WP Engine about this, only they would know), Google’s report of “a description for this result is not available because of this site’s robots.txt” should go away eventually.
