    Hi,

Initially, the activity uploader will do exactly what the usual BuddyPress Media uploader does. Except, it’ll also add the status message as the album/image description (like Facebook does).

In the release after that, we’ll add support for links and external images.

How would the UI be is a question that will have to wait till BuddyPress 1.7 is officially released. We are working with the beta to figure out the best approach.

    Regards.

Thanks for the update. So the activity uploader will be on the front end correct? Far as external images, could you elaborate more? So when this next version come out on the mar 13(hopefully sooner) I will be able to upload images from my computer or mobile device only? Then the next updates, ill b able to upload from my albums?

The activity uploader will be released in 2.7 along with a lightbox at the start of the coming week (hopefully Monday).

You can test the beta out from GitHub (https://github.com/rtCamp/buddypress-media). What this update will do is, allow your users to attach media files to their status updates on the activity streams. These will be added to their Wall Posts album.

Later, you’d be able to add the URL of an external image to the status update and BuddyPress Media will fetch and add that image to the status, as well as to the Wall Posts album. Even later, you’d be able to paste a link and a preview with a title, description and thumbnail (like Facebook share) will show up in the activity stream.
