    Hi there!

Just downloaded this theme. ?? I’m not sure why, but the right sidebar floats(?) down below the content instead of off to the side.

Here’s my current site URL (it’s mostly a shell atm):
    https://zwoodle.com/micromondays/

Do you know what I could be doing wrong?

    Thanks!

I now do see the dropped sidebar on your site at microcosmsfic.com

I just installed Colinear on a test site and put some widgets in the right sidebar. The sidebar is fine on my test site, so I suspect either a plugin conflict or an issue perhaps caused if you edited any theme files.

Here are some further troubleshooting steps you can try:

    – Try temporarily deactivating all your plugins. Does the problem persist? If the problem is gone, reactivate your plugins one-by-one, look at the site in between each reactivation, to find the conflict.

    – Undo all theme-file or CSS tweaks you’ve made so far.

Related, have you edited any theme files directly? If so, reinstall a fresh copy of the theme and move any tweaks into a child theme or custom CSS plugin so you don’t lose your changes every time you update the theme. Move them in bit by bit, checking the site in between each change.

If the dropped sidebar comes back, you’ll know the problematic code was somewhere in the last piece you added.

    Hi Kathryn,

Thanks again for all of your help! I didn’t change any theme files directly, just used the custom CSS to shrink the sidebar.

I did the deactivation thing with all of the plugins, and, lo and behold, it’s an issue with Header and Footer Scripts. I assume it’s a conflict with the plugin itself (unless you’ve heard something) but, rather, how I’m using it (to insert Javascript).

I’ll have to figure out what I’m doing wrong because it all relates to that JS object I mentioned earlier, which should fit within the container, per the dimensions.

However, the object is currently only sitting in a draft post and (unless I’m wrong) shouldn’t be affecting anything else. But the broken sidebar issue is site-wide.

    Any thoughts on this?

In the meantime, I’m going to redo the custom CSS since it’s a site I’m actively working on. Just FYI. ??

zanzaboonda – glad you narrowed down the issue to a plugin! JavaScript being inserted into the right place shouldn’t normally affect layout.

What type of “JS object” are you using the script to inject?

Have you checked the plugin’s forum to see if other users have reported the same issue, or posting in the plugin’s forum to see if the script is being injected as expected?

    Thanks for responding again!

I know I’m using the wrong terminology, here. Lol My apologies. Still not a coder, though I wish I was.

I’m just using the header plugin to call JS and CSS for a Github plugin I found. It’s pretty straightforward, I think. I’ve played around with the width of it in css (it turns a UL into what looks like a table, and then you can spin options like a slot machine), and it should for nearly within the confines of the container, but it’s not, for some reason.

I’m sure it’s my limited knowledge of CSS that’s coming back to bite me, here. I’ll take a look again if I have time before were supposed to launch. Otherwise, I might just have to deal with the shorter sidebar, even though it’s not as pretty. Lol

Thank you so much again for all of your help. I really appreciate you and the all time you have taken with me, not to mention the patience you have exuded. It really means a lot. So, thanks. ??

You’re very welcome, it’s been my pleasure. I hope you can get it sorted!
