Right Sidebar content stuck on the bottom

Hi, please excuse my novice level of wordpress expertise: I am trying to build a website for a friend using wordpress as a CMS. I have been making slow and steady progress but have hit a snag and would really appreciate some expert advice!

The image that is at the bottom and sits underneath all the rest of the content is an html widget in the right sidebar–but it’s not sitting there on the index.php page.

It does however sit in the correct position on the post page:

I must have messed something up…but I can’t figure out what. Any ideas?
