• Hi!
The Rich Text editor is gone from my installation, it happened “just like that”.

    I run:
    – WordPress 2.0.3

    I tried:
    – IE on WinXP
    – FF on OSX
    – disabling all plug-ins
    – CTRL+F5 in text editor area
    – deleting all the WP files in the root (except WP-CONFIG), WP-Includes, WP-Admin and copy fresh ones to my site. Written over existing plugins.
    – checked the settings in my account and writing options: all have the rich text editor marked.

Is there anything I missed out, still can try?

    Many thanks for your replies!!!

  • Have you checked use VRE in your user? Bottom of user page in admin panel.

Or was that what you meant when you say “checked the settings in my account”, if so I’m sorry.

    Hi! Thanks for the reply!
Sorry, I was not so clear, but yes that was indeed the point. Under User “Use the visual rich editor when writing” is enabled.

Upgraded to 2.0.4 but no success either… is there something I can change in the database to get the rich text editor enabled? Or could this be a problem with my hosting provider?

I’m new to using WordPress. When I go to write a post the page loads, but I see no sign of a rich text editor (I just see a plain white text box with no ability to change font size, boldness, ect).

I go to my User tab and enable the Rich Visual Text editor and also enable it from the Option/writing menu.

I tried CTRL+F5 in text editor area.

    Why is mine not working?

Same here. Just disappeared, and the use VRE box is still checked. The only thing that’s changed is that I’ve added some plugins. Unfortunately, I can’t do without any of them.

“some plugins” is not really informative…
Maybe other users with similar experience could be more helpful if you ‘give out’ more info.
