    Hello,

I have been using YASR on multiple websites. On some of them I use reviews and on others I only use aggregate rating. However, those websites that only use visitor votes (online games sites) never show star rating on Google search results, even when I search for “site:siteurl.com”

I have tried using different ItemType on my online gaming sites (Product, Game, SoftwareApplication), but nothing works.
While on my product review sites, I just select “Is this a review? – YES”, add my own overall rating and stars are showing almost immediately.

Other websites in the category all show visitor votes in the results with no problems (example search: “subway surfers game online”)

Can you please help with this?

    Thanks a lot!

On this site, the star ratings are working correctly: a2motorbikes.co.uk

    Here, they are not: footballgames.org

I’ve made a test here: https://search.google.com/test/rich-results/result?id=y13Y0n-MjnT6IagYcxuq5g and as you can see there is an error, some info are missing in the itemType

Since that page is about a game, I suggest to use the Game itemType, and test it again.

If no error are returned, and still no results, I suggest to remove the “Article” itemType, as it could conflict with “Game” one.

    Best,
    Dario

Actually, it is not a page about a game, it is an actual game file itself loading directly into your browser. Most other sites also use the “SoftwareApplication” itemType. I will try to add those values and see if it makes any difference. The “Article” itemType is inserted automatically by the Yoast SEO plugin, so I am not sure if it can be removed. Thanks for your help, I appreciate it.

    It should work.

If, in a couple of week it still doesn’t, try to remove “Article” itemtpye

Stars are already showing, but only when I search for “site:mysite.com” when I search for normal keywords, no ratings show up. This is the same problem I have had for ages with most of my websites. No matter what I do, ratings always show up only with “site:mysite.com”, while other sites in the results have star rating ratings working normally.

There must be some manual penalty or something…

Yes, you should to try to get better your SEO reputation, but stars are working fine now.

    Best,
    Dario
