Revolution Church/Lifestyle Theme – Can’t modify featured articles

  • Hello guys! I have gotten the Revolution Church theme for wordpress but I’m having some trouble modifying it the way I want it.
    The theme has three ‘featured category’ blocks just below the featured-content-gallery and I can’t figure how to change the category of the articles that should be shown there.
    I can’t get anything to be shown there at all.

    I hope someone can help me with this ??

  • I think you are supposed to sign up for their support forums if you want the themes to be supported. It’s on their site.

    Yes! I fixed the problem! I somehow managed to copy the theme and all the time I’ve modyfied the theme that wasn’t activated. I have no idea of how I did that :S

    Anyway, I’ve got a new problem. The problem now is that content-gallery plugin is not showing my picure and yet it’s not showing the loading bar either. I just get a white background but the article text and headline is still there.. Please help me with this ??

    I don’t know if I can help you much, but,
    did you configured the plugin properly? Did you used the exact category name that you entered in the Content Gallery Plugin Settings Page?

    additionally,
    don’t forget to add a custom field with the image link called “articleimg”

    Yes, I did, but thanks for the reminder. Now after 2 hours of googleing I finally found a solution. It turns out you need to have at least 2 main posts in the content-gallery, I only had one.

    oh. that can hurt, seeking for answers and finding out that it was just a little error :p

    I can′t modify the number of items to be displayed in Featured Content Gallery, I update the form with a value of 4 in the correct field, but it returns always “2” ??

    Hi, how did you fix the featured category? Is there a plug-in I should download? I want to change the titles of the featured category and assign the articles

    In home.php, on the line that starts

    <?php $recent = new WP_Query("cat=1&showposts=3");

    replace cat=1 with the category number that you want to be featured in that space. you can find the category number by going to Manage>>Categories, then click on the category you want. The number (or ID) is at the end of the url.

    To change the title of the featured section, replace the text between the h3 tags.

    To have a custom thumbnail for a post, add a custom field when you are editing the post. For the Key, enter “thumbnail”. For the value, put the absolute path for the image you want to use.

    Not sure if that is just an old version where you have to change the category number in the code, but the theme doesn’t work that way anymore. If you take a look at the README.txt file that came with the theme it says now that you can set the categories in the theme configuration.

    In your WordPress Admin in the left column go to the APPEARANCES section and select “Lifestyle Theme Options” (I belive it’s on this page: YOURDOMAIN.COM/wp-admin/themes.php?page=theme-options ) — from there you can set which category and how many posts to display in the top right, top left and bottom sections.
