    Hello,

Since one of the latest updates of WC, the small eye has disappeared from the orders page when someone has taken control of that order.

We are multiple admins and this hinders the work process when we have to check something fast.

Can you help bring it back? I cannot understand why the eye was removed for locked orders?

  • Hi @gkaralov,

Thank you for reaching out and bringing this to our attention. I understand how the recent change with the visibility of the ‘eye’ icon on locked orders can impact your workflow, especially when multiple admins need to access order information quickly. To better assist you, could you please provide a bit more information:
    1. Which version of WooCommerce are you currently using?
    2. Have you noticed any other changes in the orders page functionality besides the missing ‘eye’ icon?
    3. Are you using any custom themes or plugins that might affect the orders page?

In the meantime, you can check the WooCommerce documentation on managing orders here, which might offer some immediate insight.

    Looking forward to your response.

    Hi @gkaralov,

Reviewing our changelogs, I can see that this was changed back in version 8.3.0, released on 2023-11-16. This was meant to avoid users previewing outdated information if someone else is actively working on that order and possibly making edits.

You can learn more about this change here: https://github.com/woocommerce/woocommerce/pull/40730.

I understand you’d like this change revoked, but that isn’t an option at this time. I think you could submit a feature request to make it optional and have a toggle to switch it on or off, though. We have a website where you can submit feature requests and upvote the ones other people submitted and you like. You can check that out?here.

For more inmediate action, a custom code solution would help you bring back this feature. I can recommend the Woo Developer Resources Portal for resources on developing for WooCommerce. You can also visit the WooCommerce Facebook group or the #developers channel of the Woo Community Slack. We’re lucky to have a great community of open-source developers for Woo, and many of our developers hang out there, as well.

Please let us know if there’s anything else we can do to help at this time or if you have further questions.

    Have a wonderful day!
    -OP
