Is it possible somehow to make the Website and “Save my name, email, and…” fields not required to submit a review?

    Hi @ampedcreativ,

This website seems to have information on how to edit or remove that checkbox https://www.webfulcreations.com/remove-or-edit-save-my-name-email-and-website-in-this-browser-for-the-next-time-i-comment/

Just FYI, that option simply saves your details in a cookie so that they are there if you want to add more reviews/comments. It does not stop the site saving that info to the database, in most countries it is required to collect this information.

If I can help further please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Stiofan

@stiofansisland thanks for the help. Unfortunately, I’ve tried that code, but it doesn’t change anything on the form. I’m guessing it’s an issue with Divi. For some reason, it wants to require the Website and cookie checkbox to be filled in in order to post a review. I don’t mind that the fields are there… they just shouldn’t be required.

Do you know if this is normal behavior for GeoDirectory to require these fields?

Update: To rule out any plugin incompatibility, I’ve disabled all plugins except for GeoDirectory. I then created a dummy post to see if the traditional comment form would require the Website field. It allowed me to post a comment without filling out the field. Only in the Leave a Review form on a business listing page does it require it. If I click on Post Review without entering a website, it shows an error, “Please fill out this field.”

Also, if I do enter a url in the Website field, but leave the checkbox unchecked, I get this error, “Please check this box if you want to proceed.”

Is GeoDirectory the one driving these error messages? If not, I’ll at least know to start looking into WordPress or Divi as the culprit.

Is this a feature on the paid version of GeoDirectory?

Update: I’ve tried various plugins to remove the Website field. Some work, some don’t. The ones that remove it, though, still don’t allow the form to submit a review. This leads me to believe that there is something within GeoDirectory that is forcing the requirement. Is there any way around this?

Sorry to keep adding to this thread… in the event that I get this figured out, I’m just hoping to help someone else who might have this issue.

    I’ve deleted and reinstalled Divi.
    I’ve deleted and reinstalled GeoDirectory.
Neither fixed the problem. Stay tuned….
