Review Structured Data Error

    Hi,

    We’ve never had a problem with the Review snippet (maybe Google has done an update in the last couple of weeks), but it is now not appearing for us on search results.

    Having used the testing tool I’ve noticed we’ve got an error

    “Thing is not a known valid target type for the itemReviewed property.”

    Any ideas? Thanks!

  • I noticed the warning too but it follows the schema specs, so not sure about that one, just yet. That’s not the reason your reviews and stars are not showing.

    Google has made a change to the algorithm that directly limits the number of results that show with stars. It looks like it’s actively penalizing sites that overuse it. I’ve removed the star ratings and Google seems to be OK with the site now. Still having major issues with AMP not showing anymore, after it was one of my best sources of traffic for over two years.

    Yes google update review schema added specific type. We are working on this will release when finish.

    I use the review mark up and I get this error in the Structured data tool Thing is not a known valid target type for the itemReviewed property.

    I do amazon product reviews and I self assign the rating of a specific product. What should I do now to get back my stars?

    Should I change to the PRODUCT mark up? Is it safe and according to Google’s guidelines?

    I am getting the same message for https://www.websitesnmore.com.au/ – Thing is not a known valid target type for the itemReviewed property. Upon further inspection, I see that Google made an update to their algorithm and now you will need to define the item property.

    All the pages do not show the star ratings on SERP’s anymore. When do you think this will be fixed?

    Is there a filter we could add to fix the issue for now? If so, could you share the code?

    Hi there,

    Upon activating the review under local business schema, the page broke. I have first removed the review schema as per the instructions provided before activating the local business schema.

    Can you look into this?
