Review Plug-In Question

  • I am shopping around to see what review plug-in will work best for my website. We currently have jigoshop and jigoshop offers a ratings/review feature already but we are displeased with the overall look and functionality:
    1) If I install this plug-in will it automatically take the place of the Jigoshop review plug-in we currently have…or do I need to turn something off or add something?
    2) Can I add this review app ONLY to my product pages?
    3) After someone receives an online order from us, can we send them a message and ask them to review the product?

    I believe these are the only questions I have for now. I have wordpress version 3.5.1 and jigoshop version 1.7.1

  • I don’t have any experience with Jigoshop so can’t say if there are conflicts with it and this plugin but I’m running two different ecommerce systems in conjunction with WP Customer Reviews and it doesn’t cause a problem.

    To your questions:
    1) Can’t say. You’re probably going to need to simply install it and find out.
    2) Reviews can be added to specific pages, but how it’s done will depend on how Jigoshop works (I have no idea about that). It looks like Jigoshop has a CPT called “product.” I don’t know how those are managed through the WordPress backend so I can’t offer any other guidance except to say that you definitely can add the WP Customer Review shortcode to a field on a CPT; again, I don’t know how Jigoshop does it so who knows if it’s specifically possible for that implementation. Assuming it is, you’ll probably have to manually add the review feature to the pages individually. If you have a lot of products then that might be a bummer to set up.
    3) This isn’t included in this plugin but sure, you could set this easily enough. You’d just include a link to the product page in the email to them. How you manage that email notification is up to you; assuming that Jigoshop has some type of emails to customers then it likely could be included there.
