I like the nice clean simple look. It’s refreshing after seeing so many cluttered blogs. I love the intense blue header, but the title seems lost in that intense color. Add a little font something there to make it more powerful, or just move the text over to the right or left. Let that lovely blue color have importance.
Also the “uber l33t” has been used to death. Consider something else.
Now that you have that dynamic blue header, consider incorporating the same tone into other subtle parts of your page. Like in the line along the blockquotes. The text is way too light there and should be enhanced rather than faded out, and the bar would be nice to have blue there.
I’d also echo the blue header background in the footer. Tie it all together.
The little double arrows in the sidebar list scream “Kubrick” layout, and I personally think it would be nice to replace them with very small blue ball bullets or arrows, very simple, but again, carrying forward the blue color in subtle ways.
On the single post view, the sidebar is gone, and there is no navigation controls on the page. With 11 categories, this makes movement from a single post around on your site a bit challenging. While people can use the back button, it isn’t as inviting as “Oh, this is interesting, now where do I find more….well, shoot, I have to back out of this to go looking.”
I love the simple look. Keep it simple, just add a little continuity of the color throughout. Very good job.
