I recently came across your plugin, installed it on a new site I am developing, and everything was great.

I updated to newest version of your plugin and I can no longer use your plugin because it has become broken within my website for some reason.

Basically what it is now doing is… Not showing as an option until WordPress saves a defaut of the page, based on title, and WP creates its own permalink – then your plugin becomes visible. The text in the box is grayed out, but I can edited it. I change it to the permalink structure I want, save the page… And WP changes the permalink back to what it initially created.

It is a new wordpress installation as of March, and I just started developing the site within past week or two.

I need help fixing this because without your plugin, I am not sure I will even further develop the site as I need the functionality your plugin provides – not sure why WordPress cannot make this incorporated into wordpress.

Anyway, I tried to troubleshoot on my own, I deactivated all plugins except yours, the behavior is the same as described as above. I changed to default Twenty Twenty theme from WP, still same.

Before (And after) I tried inspecting with my browser’s console – never showed anything either time (Before troubleshooting and during).

I even tried to uninstall your plugin while all plugins were disabled and reinstall keeping all plugins and themes disabled – same results.

The previous permalinks I had made with your plugin still work, just cannot create new ones.

On a side note – I believe before updating, the box for your permalink was still grayed out but could edit it and it saved it.

Please provide ANY suggestions for me to try to help me get this resolved.

For now I am going to reactivate the security plugins I was using awaiting your reply.

Thank you in advance for any assistance

    Hi @allaboutrdr2

I have tried but the issue seems fine to me. I suggest you to please clear your server cache, Plugins cache (if using caching plugin), and If you are using any JS optimize, minify plugin then please clear its cache and then test the issue.

Also, please use private/incognito window and test the issue (There is a chance that the JS is being cached in your browser that is creating the issue)

    Regards,
    Sami

    Hi @allaboutrdr2

To resolve caching issue, I have released a new version 1.6.1. Please check your issue and let me know if it still persist.

    Sami

I’m also getting this in the console when trying to save permalinks.

Here’s the console error I’m seeing.

Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 (Not Found)

    /wp-content/plugins/custom-permalinks/frontend/js/script-form-1.6.1.min.js?ver=5.4.2

I think you’ve missed off renaming the file from script-form-1.6.1.min.js to script-form-1.6.1.min.js ??

I’ve got the same issue and get the same Javascript error when checking the browser console.

    @pr0jectile Yes, you are right.

Issue fixed and released a new version for it. Please recheck and provide your valuable feedback.

    Hi,

I installed the new version earlier today and the issue is still the same.

I’ve cleared my browser cache, caching plugin and tried on an incognito browser to no avail.

Old posts with custom permalinks are fine. When trying to edit a draft I just get the grayed out permalink box and it stays grayed out when editing it. Then the permalink changes I make aren’t saved when I re-save the updated draft.

@bobbybrown235 On which version you doing this testing? Can you please share the video of it?

    Regards,

I’m not sure how to do that without revealing my site publicly which I do not want to do. My issue is with the latest version and it is just as everyone else has described.

    Thanks!

Ahhaa! Fixed. WP wasn’t pushing the new 1.6.2 version but just did and I updated. Looks good now!

I unfortunately am still having the issues, I couldn’t understand why after disabling all plugins, changing my theme, etc….

But today I decided to try again to resolve the issue – I did.

What fixes it for me, and not sure why – I reactivated all my plugins – and I made a new page, it does its thing by saving a draft – then the box comes up…

I chose something like /testing/test/test1 – it didn’t work when I hit publish. So I went back into edit the page – deleted the “slug” – changed the permalink – published – and it worked. It saved it as I typed it in – still grayed out though – very odd.

Thanks for all your help Sami, I just wanted to inform you of how it now works for me.

    Hi @allaboutrdr2

It saved it as I typed it in – still grayed out though – very odd.

Field becomes grey out when you unfocus it. It is just to inform user so if user still wants to update/change the permalink then please click again and update.

But when you open the page where the permalink is customized then the field is not grey out to tell you that “Permalink” is already customized otherwise it remains grey out.

Let me know if it is not the case for you.

    Regards,
    Sami
