    Hello,

We bought your PRO version 2 years ago for a given site based on the promised feature to be implemented offering PayPal subscriptions (recurring payments).

As this never happened and there is not even an ETA for this we need to revert to the free version as our subscription has been labelled “legacy” and you now want more money for something you still don’t offer.

I asked your website’s chat how to revert back to the free version but the solution they offered (uninstall the WPMUDEV dashboard and the pro version will revert back to free) doesn’t seem to work as we still have the pro version active. What does “uninstall” mean? Deactivate or delete?

Please suggest a working method for doing this without losing the plugin’s settings and forms.

    Hi @dsl225,

I apologize for the inconvenience. I have informed our accounts team about your concerns, and they will get back to you via email as soon as possible.

Please note that uninstalling or deactivating the WPMU DEV Dashboard plugin will disable any Pro features, making the plugin’s functionality equivalent to the free version. However, it will still display as “Forminator Pro” and won’t revert to “Free” automatically.

To switch to the free plugin, you’ll need to reinstall it. This can be done through a couple of methods, such as using FTP to upload the free version under /wp-content/plugins/ or uninstalling and reinstalling the free version via the WP Dashboard. If you choose the latter, ensure that the “preserve” option is enabled under Forminator Pro > Settings > Data > Uninstallation before deleting the plugin.

Enabling the “preserve” option ensures that no data will be lost when you delete Forminator and later reinstall the free version.

Please do make sure you have a backup before you make any such changes.

    Best Regards,

    Thanks Nithin, that’s useful indeed.
At last, I would say as the feedback my client has been getting so far was terrible… The account for the pro version is not in my name, as I’m only the dev, but in my client’s name. It’s about a site with the extension .ngo for which he had 2 different chats yesterday.

Pro settings have indeed already been set with “preserve” and this is a very important information.
    Just to be sure:
    – FTP: what do you mean exactly? Upload the free version on its own new folder and simply delete the Pro version folder?
    – WP Dashboard: what is the exact procedure? Deactivate and delete Pro version first and then just install and activate the free version?

It goes without saying that I only want to preserve the standard forms we have on the site and that we will lose Stripe and Paypal payment features by doing so but related forms were not in use anyhow as the promised Paypal subscription option that we needed has never been implemented and my client paid this subscription for nothing during those 2 years.

    Thanks.

    Hi @dsl225

    – FTP: what do you mean exactly? Upload the free version on its own new folder and simply delete the Pro version folder?

The FTP is the file transfer protocol which allows you to connect to the server to remove and upload new files, some hosting providers also have a file manager that would be faster than FTP, but if you take a full backup and keep the “preserve” option it is much easier to just remove the Pro version and reinstall the Free one.

    – WP Dashboard: what is the exact procedure? Deactivate and delete Pro version first and then just install and activate the free version?

Yes, the one I described above as well.

    Best Regards

For pro or commercial product support please contact the developer directly on their site. This includes any pre-sales topics as well.

As the developer is aware, commercial products are not supported in these forums. I am sure they will have no problem supporting you there.

Hi @wpmudevsupport12 and many thanks for this.

I well know what FTP is but my question related to what exactly to do with th folders. Anyhow, no problem, I’ll follow the recommendation for uninstall/install through WP dashboard.

Thanks again for you kind help.

@jdembowski I fully understand and agree with you.

But, in this particular case, the support guys at WPMUDEV asked my client to contact their support here as they were not sure about this procedure to follow for the free version. In fact, this question relates for 50% to the pro version and 50% to the free one.

Now, everything is clear and sorry for the confusion.
