    Hi,

Is there any way to revert the changes (webp images) back to what they were initially? For some reason many of them just disappeared, I spoke to an engineer from wpengine and this seems to be the issue.

    Many thanks.

    Hi @radudr,

    Thank you for your message.

What does it mean that some of them have disappeared? Remember that if, after converting, the file in WebP format is larger than the original, the one in WebP is deleted.

Do you use any other photo compression tool?

    Hi Mateusz,

Thanks for getting back to me.Some of the images in media library just don’t show anymore, can’t see the thumbnail nor the photo itself: https://ibb.co/vD1rS7B –>> Once you try to open any of those from media library I get a “404 Not Found” error.

after converting, the file in WebP format is larger than the original, the one in WebP is deleted.

Is the original file being kept though?

There was another plugin installed previously called shortpixel but that was deactivated.

The engineer from wpengine said the images are being served in WebP format and that’s why the images are not showing. I don’t think WebP Converter works well with CDN does it? ??

I’ve got another question please: If I deactivate the plugin, would this cause all the other images to break?

The plugin does not modify the original files. If you disable the plugin, the files in the WebP format and the rules in the .htaccess file will be deleted. Your images are never changed.

I am working on a plugin update that should improve CDN support.

You can download and test the beta version here: https://gbiorczyk.pl/webp-converter-for-media-v1.1.3.zip

    Hi Mateusz,

I just discovered your plugin and really loved the idea. Unfortunately it does not work with a CDN as you said. Any progress on that issue? I would be thrilled ??

    Thanks!

    Hi @clmsvie,

    Thank you for your message.

If you keep files from the multimedia library on a CDN, choose one that provides WebP support. When the files are on another server, I cannot manage them. In the FAQ you have it explained exactly.

If you keep both site files and /uploads on one server, it will work. If /uploads are on the CDN server, unfortunately not. There are no plans to change this issue.
