    Hi there,

The update to 9.7.1 changes the way the address update on the cart page looks, with the placeholders removed and written above the input areas and the dropdown arrow icons uncentered and all over the place.

Is there a simple way I can revert back to how it was using some css or something?

Here are image of before and after:

    Before update:

    After update:

As you can see the version before the update is much tidier and the dropdown arrow icon is cleaner and centered.

Thank you for your help ??

    Hi @japenz ,

I am sorry to hear that the update to WooCommerce 9.7.1 changed how the address fields appear on the cart page—especially with the placeholders moving above the input fields and the dropdown arrows looking off. That definitely sounds frustrating.

Just to narrow things down, have you tried rolling back to version 9.7.0? That would help confirm if the update is causing this. You can use the WP Rollback plugin to easily switch back and test.

Also, sometimes issues like this are just caching playing tricks. I’d recommend clearing your site’s cache at the server level, any caching plugins you might be using, and your browser cache as well. That’s often enough to fix layout issues after an update.

Give that a try and let me know how it goes!

    Hi @jonayedhosen,

Thanks for helping me with this.

The change actually happens when updating from 9.6.2 to 9.7.0, I reverted back to 9.6.2 to fix the issue hoping it might be addressed in the next update (9.7.1).

Are you able to confirm that the change isn’t standard and therefore likely a setup issue ie. theme or plugin conflict?

    Hi @jonayedhosen,
I’ve just tested with a staging site and the issue appears when updating from 9.6.2 to 9.7.0.

Tested with just Woocommerce active, using the Twenty Twenty-Five theme.

    Hello JapeNZ,

    Thank you for your reply.

I tested WooCommerce version 9.6.2 and the latest 9.71.
On both versions, my Checkout page that uses Checkout shortcode is showing the same result.
This site has Twenty Twenty-Five theme and only WooCommerce plugin active.

To investigate this further, please share your site’s System Status Report with me.
You can paste it into https://pastebin.com and share the link here.

    Here is a screenshot:

    Best regards.

    Hi @doublezed2,

Thank you for looking at this for me.

The issue is on the ‘cart’ page, not the checkout page.

Are you able to check the cart page on your end and see if you’re seeing the same issues I am please?

    Hello JapeNZ,

    Thank you for your reply.

I checked the Cart page on my test site.
I do not see any address fields on the cart page.

Could you record your screen and share it with me?
I want to see how a full page appears.

Also, share the page URL with me so I can check it from my end.

Here is a screenshot of my test site:

    Best regards.

    Hi @doublezed2,

Here’s what I’m seeing with twenty twenty-five theme active.

Do you have any shipping options set up?
I’d assume you need to have shipping options for the shipping section to show up in teh cart area.

    Hi there!

I have tried to replicate this issue on my end, and I was able to reproduce it. The placeholder is being replaced with the field label. However, this is not actually a bug—it seems that, in the new update, the placeholder is now being replaced by the field label, which is why it appears above the field.

Also, I can see that the dropdown icon is appearing correctly in the center.

I would suggest creating a thread on GitHub here: https://github.com/woocommerce/woocommerce/issues

This will allow our developers to review whether this behavior is intended in the new update or if it is a bug. If it turns out to be a bug, they will definitely work on a fix as soon as possible.

    Thank you!

    Hi @shahzeenfarooq,

Thank you for following up on this for me, much appreciated ??

I guess it’s a design preference rather than an issue… can’t say I agree with the change, but as it’s a feature rather than a bug I’ll look at ways to customize it from my end.
