• I’ve searched these forums and Google and cannot find a similar situation.

My WP install is recent and kept updated, all plugins are updated, and this problem is not caused by a plugin conflict.

If you visit the site you’ll see that I’m utilizing several info boxes on the front page. These change fairly frequently, so it makes sense to save them as reusable blocks, which I have done.

The problem arises when I try to replace any of these reusable blocks with another. As soon as I select a saved reusable block to place on the page the WP back end freezes, then crashes. I can see all of the saved reusable blocks when I choose to “Manage Reusable Blocks”.

I’ve cleared caches on the site and on my browsers (Firefox and Chrome) and the problem persists.

    Ideas?

Thanks in advance for any input on this problem.

  • @mtdeveloper this might sound dumb but did you try it on another computer/device? It might really be the device you’re using that’s acting up & messing with the save process.

Have you tried converting the reusable blocks back to normal blocks before making the changes. Reusable blocks are all linked together so when you make changes to one you are making the same changes to all the blocks.

You might also want to explore creating your own block patterns. You can then just drag the pattern into the editor and make the changes.

Reusable blocks are good if you want the same exact blocks to be used though out the site. If the information blocks are going to change it would best to use wordpress patterns which would mean they are not linked to each other.

If you are going to use reusable blocks try going to the menu for the block and convert it back to a normal block after you have it placed.
