Return to Selected Date

I’m having trouble returning to the agenda view containing the last selected date.
For example:
1) Go to agenda view
2) Forward through dates a few months
3) Select an event from a future date
4) Hit “back” button to return to agenda view
5) Agenda view lists current date, not last selected date.Is there a way to change this behavior or a way to manually create a “back” button on events that will return to the last selected agenda date?
I noticed some URL parameters that may or may not play a part. Couldn’t get them to work though:
/events/?instance_id=134600
/calendar/action~agenda/page_offset~3/request_format~html/

The browser back button can’t be used to recall previous setting that were changed via javascript. Some browsers may appear to do this but it should not work that way.
