• Does anyone know how to retrofit all the images in my media library with Alt Text?
It’d be much easier if there was a Quick Edit that exposed the Alt Text field but alas …

    Ideas?

  • Review how to best populate this field with data prior to upload..there are differing manners but same approach.

Umm, yeah, I do populate the fields prior to upload … now.

I’m talking about the Alt Text field on all images I use that don’t have … since I migrated to WP from Drupal 6 months ago.

Umm, yeah, I understand better your issue. A good MySQL db person can likely help.

I saw this request a few days ago and as SwansonPhotos has stated you could do it with a MySQL query but it would be a pain.

So instead I created a plugin that displays the alt field of each image in the Media Library screen. You can just update the text from the main list and not have to go in to each image’s edit screen.

Let me know if it works for you, from my limited testing there weren’t any issues.

    Beat you to it ??
Installed and logged an issue already.

…. And heaps of gratitude to you for putting in the time to code it too
