Retrieving Multiple Values from Custom Field

  • Hi Everyone!

    I have just received an interesting, but confusing, request from a client.

    He would like a single custom field to retrieve multiple values…okay that might be slightly confusing so let me tell you exactly what he wants.

    He wants to be able to select an author from the custom field dropdown (using the More Fields plugin) and then depending on that author is selected also show an author image, author profile and an author link.

    If anyone could provide me with some guidance it would be very much appreciated.

    Does he want the image, profile, and link, displayed in the admin when writing a post or just when displaying the posts on the blog?

    Also, will those authors be users of the blog?

    I don’t think having them displayed in the admin is what he is looking for.

    He just wants to be able to select the individual author and have the relevant data show up in the post.

    I am not sure if their is some easy solution here since I am pretty new to this whole thing.

    The authors will not be users of the blog.

    Might want to review Custom Fields then.

    I have taken a look at this and am still not seeing what I’m looking for. I apologize if this is a very simple solution.

    But how exactly would I enter the author bio, author image, and author profile somewhere, and have the user only select the author itself thus pulling all the other data automatically.

    Well you could create a Page for each author and but the bio, image, profile, and link to whatever…

    Then in your custom field you could put the page for that author then link to that.

    Or look for a plugin:
