Retrieviing 5 posts after the 3 on the front page.

Second line is supposed to be
$posts=get_posts(‘numberposts=5&offset=3’); ?>

I would like to display the current 3 on the front page, and the 5 before that in a list, not show the five as entries. Thanks.
