Retrieve players number of goals per game

In WordPress is always better to use native functions instead of direct sql queries.

Saying in that, player stats are saved in post-meta fields which you can retrieve with the function: get_post_meta()

The post-meta field you need to check is: sp_players

Yes I would have used native function if there was one available but there is not thats why I need to di this

You can try either the Rest API https://torquemag.io/2015/07/working-with-post-meta-data-using-the-wordpress-rest-api/

Or even try a direct sql query: all post meta are stored in the post-meta table of your database. You can select the post-meta by using the match-id as ID and the sp_players as the key..
