Retina.js method failing on some images
-
Jordy asked me to post this email that I sent him directly here, in case it helps other users…
I have Retina 2x set up for a design client, and I am using retina.js as the method (Picturefill interfered with a jQuery masonry gallery plugin I’m using, and the developer of that plugin recommended switching to the retina.js method).
I am uploading files twice the size that I want them to appear, ie 1960px wide when they should appear on the site at 980px wide.
Here’s some details from the log:
2015-02-16 23:20:37: – blog-posts-landscape: /home/content/28/12555028/html/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/image-1-980×719.jpg -> /home/content/28/12555028/html/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/image-1-980×[email protected] => EXISTS
2015-02-16 23:20:48: – blog-posts-landscape: /home/content/28/12555028/html/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/image-2-980×653.jpg -> /home/content/28/12555028/html/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/image-2-980×[email protected] => FAIL
(The image size ‘Blog post landscape’ is set in Media settings at 980w x 9999h with no cropping…)
As you can see, some images work, and some fail…
I’ve regenerated thumbnails multiple times, and I can’t work out what’s going wrong?
Jordy kindly replied with: It’s not the first time I heard about this. Actually, I can even replicate it very easily which is good news ??
I have an explanation and also a fix (that will come later).I will reply right away ?? For the fix, you will have to wait a few days, I am working on the next big release.
I look forward to the fix – thanks Jordy!
