Retina friendly – resolution independent design

You have some pretty significant low-contrast issues in that design.

I’d appreciate if you could elaborate please.

Visitors with vision impairments or certain kinds of dyslexia are going to find it almost impossible to use the site. The contrast between the background and the text is just too low in many areas. I’m all for low(ish) contrasts in web design to reduce eye strain myself but you have to be careful that the contrast doesn’t get too low. There are online tools that you can use to check contrasts levels:
