• The images currently get renamed to Word-image. Is there anyway to retain the image files names of which they were added to the document ?

For example, If we export a Google Doc to a docx file. It would be great to have the original image file names ( assuming they are actually sent to Microsoft Word ).

The images are named using the alt text of the image, if any is available. I don’t know whether an exported Google Doc would contain the original image file names.

The alt text isnt retained, however wordable ( a google doc to wordpress post tool ) manage to retain the file names from a google doc export to wordpress.

However its good to know that the file names are pulled via alt text, I can instruct our writing team to ensure alt text is added at Doc level, rater than at publishing level

ah just tried it, unfortunatly the alt text isnt retained when exporting to docx ?? so all images are saved as word-image.jpeg

Such a shame as being able to quickly export from google doc’s into a post is a huge requirement, can’t believe no one has come up with a standalone solution yet, Wordable isnt a good alternative in my opinion.

Did you try setting the Title or the Description field when setting the alt text? If I set the description in Google Docs, both the exported Word document and the HTML generated by Mammoth seem to include the description.

    Hi Michael,

You are absolutely correct, For some reason my editing of the alt text did not save in the Google doc before i exported. This is working great, I can now instruct my writers to fill out all that info prior to export ??
