Restrictions for creating a new message based on user roles does not work

Hi there, setting restrictions for creating a new message based on user roles in buddyPress, does not work on my site.

I have set up a restriction for subscribers, which will not be allowed to start new threads. I just changed user role from customer to subscriber on a user, but he is still able to start a new thread?

My send message button is moved from header to after profile content by a hook, I don’t see that as the issue?
