Restricting posts to a specific category within a page

I have a WordPress 1.5 site found here:

I’d like to create a page (not a post) that when selected from the home page, displays a series of posts for a specific category.

For instance, the site above presents a series of posts in the “Family” category. I’d like to create a page that is accessible from the right sidebar, say “Vacations”. When a guest opens the “Vacations” page, a series of posts specific to the category “vacations” will be presented.

Can I have some advice in how/where to start? I figured I must modify (or create) a loop but I don’t know where to start?

I was hoping someone could recommend:

1. which page to modify
2. what contents to insert
3. some sample code
