Restrict the categories in the sidebar

Hi poliquinp,

there have no ‘category_name’ property in the wp_list_categories() function. Use this code wp_list_categories('orderby=name&show_count=1&include=6&title_li=<h2>Categories</h2>');

6 is the category id.

The code actually take the &include=6 but it return me this error

I would like to know you get the ID 6 and if it’s possible to get a specific ID for a category.

if you want to show “My_Cat” category, so please put that category’s id.

Where can I GET my categories ID ?

i think that this is static ID not dynamic. I have no exp. about it poliquinp :). I use it as static.

Just found a small solution…

I might find a way to GET the ID of one specific category by looking in the URL when I edit a cat.

https://yourwebiste.com/wp-admin/categories.php?action=edit&cat_ID=3

So I’ve tried to place ‘exclude=MY_ID’ and it worked..

<?php wp_list_categories('orderby=name&exclude=3'); ?>

So now I will have to create two different sidebars templates and I should have something pretty fine…
