Restrict media to only author

I was wondering if there is a way to allow only the author of the post, to select from images already uploaded to that specific post.

I tried every code out there to restrict media only tho their authors in WordPress with no avail.

What I’m trying to do is to let users select a featured image from the images already in their posts.
Hopefully there is a way to achieve this?
