Restrict Category doesn't work on CPT and Pages using global categories

I had a custom post type setup with custom categories but the plugin didn’t register these categories for restriction.
I decided that it would work better for me to use global categories so that I could restrict pages, CPT and posts under one category using the membership plugin.
I setup pages and CPT to use the same categories and this works fine. Categorised posts, pages and CPTs all show up where they should.
However, the plugin doesn’t seem to register CPT or pages using the restricted category so all pages and CPTs are not restricted even though the category is – though posts work fine and seamlessly.
I have setup the CPT and pages so that the plugin will let you restrict them individually on the fly. But I really want the global category restriction to work. Any help would be much appreciated – I’m hunting around the plugin with little success so far.
