• I backed up my previous wordpress blog and would now like to restore those entries onto a new blog.

I followed the instructions here (https://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/restore/) but I can’t seem to get the entries to appear on my new blog.

I can see the entries in phpAdmin when I browse in the wp_posts section but I can’t seem to make them appear in my blog.

    Please help!

  • Are your folders CHMOD writable? I just did a back up and my folders weren’t visible in my blog. I could see them via FTP on my public web space but I couldn’t access them through wordpress admin interface.

Check CHMOD on your wp folders.

    Thanks for the comment, KatGirl

I checked the permissions of the folders
    cp
    wp-admin
    wp-content
    wp-includes

and they were all set so that I could read, write and execute and the public could read and execute so I think all is well on that front.

    This is unbelievably aggravating.

Am I supposed to do something after I upload the entries using MySQL and phpAdmin? Is there a step I’m missing?

Any and all pointers would be appreciated, including to links to other sites that explain how to do this.

    I found this thread helpful:

I’d still appreciate an explanation as to why it worked though.

My wp-config.php file had database information that I had not added to it so what I had to do was update the database with the information from my new mySQL database for the new blog and somehow that resulted in the old entries reappearing (?). I don’t get it!

It makes no sense to me.
