• I changed my server provider, because my old one broke down, and I am in the process of reinstalling wordpress. I have a backup, made with WordPress Database Backup Plugin, which was made under wodpress 2.9 I think and MySQL 4.1.x.
My new server has MySQL 4.0.26 so I wasn’t able to install the latest wordpress. Now I’m trying to import my backuped sql file to phpMyAdmin and I get the following error:
#1064 – You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ‘DEFAULT CHARSET=utf8’ at line 22

Can I save my backup file somehow?

  • As far as I’m aware, the minimum requirement for 2.9 is MySQL 4.1.2 or greater. 2.8 or below can use MySQL 4.0 but I’m not at all sure how you’re going to get the data from a 2.9 database backup into a 2.8 db

Yes, I had no problem installing 2.8.6 I’m only struggling with the database backup

You could try searching the forums using a query like “rollback”. Or googling on “rollback wordpress”. Although it’s not normally recommended, I have known of people who wanted to (and did) rollback their install to an earlier version. I just don’t have any of the links to hand.
