So i set the constant true for the trash feature. I then ran the scan and deleted a decent number of files. We needed to recover one file from the trash but upon doing so we realized it didn’t work. Once we recovered the deleted PDF any attempt to view the fiel resulted in a 404 not found. Example of the media URL looked like:

    https://www.website.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/name-of-file.pdf

Any attempt to view the file resulted in a 404 page not found error. Luckily i was able to use wayback machine internet archive tool to find the old file download it and replace it in the media library. Now i’m just worried we will find other files needing to be restored and have it fail on us again. Can’t really rely on that archive tool as it is pretty spotty.

    Hi,

Yes, it’s best to have a proper backup. Normally, the trash in Media Cleaner works perfectly, the problem is that WordPress also can delete trashed images by its own will, and… you also need to make sure the WP TRASH is enabled in the settings (but it’s not, there is a warning in the Cleaner Dashboard).
