• I need to do a clean reinstall of my blog from a backup. But my backup plugin provides only SQL.GZ files.

I have seached for how to upload a sql.gz file and everything I have found only shows how to do .TAR.gz files.

    I can’t find anything for SQL.GZ files.

    Does anyone know please?

    thanks

    Same idea.

You should be able to manually upload the file into phpMyAdmin.

Thanks but it needed to be unzipped first. I couldn’t get 7-zip to work on my PC. And Hamster zip was behaving weird.

I also didn’t like the idea of having a possibly corrupt installation/restore on my site. I’m not confident doing this sort of tech stuff. I should have outsourced the whole thing.

So I gave up, installed a brand new blog and will laboriously add my old posts manually. Crazy I know, but I understand this way. And I won’t be paranoid everytime something goes wrong, that it could be a corrupt file.
