• I had an inelegant loss of a host.

I have the MySQL dump of all the data structures and data. I also have the plugins, theme and wp-content/wp-uploads directory content.

Do I install the domain on the new host with SimpleScripts and then try to import the data using phpMyAdmin?

Or is there a more efficient way?

I’ve see the “how to move a site” documentation, but am wondering if the new host already has SimpleScripts if there is an easier way.

  • There’s no easier way. How you install WordPress is up to you (although we usually recommend manual installs over 1-click installs) but the database restoration is still the same.

This morning I had to do this also. I took one of my cPanel backups and loaded it through the cPanel file manager. The upload and extraction went without a hitch. I hope the same ease for you.

I used Softulous from the ex-host and the new host has something different.

I’d try uploading the zip and then extracting it.

    Best to you,
    Carver
