    I lost my domain and had a backup. I got the domain back and have asked my web host to upload it and then I’ll handle it.

    I’m assuming that the backup will install fine. But, what does my host need to do? Upload and unpack the files I know, but anything else?

    I don’t know the username or password but will click the link to have it sent to me. If the email is not available, which file contains the information? wp-config.php or ?

    Last time my web host uploaded the backup to another domain, the two hundred posts were there but the header was missing. I’m not sure why since the backup should have everything. I can find the theme here and install it and redo the header. But it’s odd that it was missing.

    Thank you.

  • Hi @sicksquirreltwo,

    You can restore your back up by yourself, but if your host does a good job it will save you time.

    Concerning username and password, you can find and edit this information in phpMyAdmin in cPanel.

    (You can request cPanel login info from your host if you do not have it)

    => Access cPanel then
    => Enter phpMyAdmin
    => Go to WordPress database
    => {table-prefix}_users. Check WordPress users table. Go ahead and
    => click on the edit button for username and password. Under the function column
    => select MD5 from the drop-down menu and click on the Go button.

    Let me know if this helped you,

    Thank you! That sounds simple enough. I’m just waiting for my host to upload the backup then I’ll try it.

    I logged in easily as my iPad saved my login and password. The site is loading fine and I’m a happy blogger! Thank you again.
