restore previous theme and settings??

  • Hi, I recently upgraded upgraded the twentyten theme to the updated version (can’t remember specifics unfortunately). I completely forgot that it would reset the entire theme so its now lost a lot of styling. I still have the rest of the site intact. So I was wondering if there is a way to restore the old theme with customizations . I backed up the database, though the back up is from before I updated the version of WordPress. Can I restore from just the database?

  • If you mean custom styles that you had written for the twenty ten theme, I’m afraid you might have lost it. The database doesn’t contain the style files. It’s a completely different matter. Did you update WordPress or the theme specifically? And do you by any chance have the old heme file backups?

    I updated the theme, but I did update WordPress recently which went smoothly. Again, I didn’t backup the core files since I wasnt 100% sure how to do that, so I only have the database. I’ll probably contact the original designer for the file and then go back to using twentyten from now on. I just wanted to know if there was anything I could do.

    No. It’s gone. Don’t edit the Twenty Ten theme. Instead create a child theme for your changes.
