• Sorry if this is a repost, I didn’t see anything in the history that helped, unless I just looked over it.

I didn’t use myphpadmin like the backups here recommend, I just did a full backup of my entire website and have a big lump of files I need to figure out how to restore. The only sql file I have is full of comments, no entries. What file(s) should I be looking for to get this up and running?

I don’t remember exactly what version I had, but I believe it was 1.5 if that helps at all…

  • Well unless you backed up your mysql database, you’re screwed. That’s where all your blog’s info is stored.
Why wouldn’t you do what is recommended and even totally necessary?
You have to use phpmyadmin to back up your db. Can you still do it?

No, I’m pretty sure my site is gone, but I can try to get access to the backups of my site if it really comes down to it. I didn’t think to follow specific directions on this site, I was under the impression the full backup through cpanel covered mysql databases as well… There’s gotta be something to restore from the huge tar.gz I have, right?

I have 3 years of blogging on it, being screwed is that last thing I wanted to hear ??

well, you can look in the tar and search for:
    yourdbname.mysql (usually)
Check with your host, also explaining the problem to them. Mayhap they can get a copy for you.

I’ve already tried searching both backups and found nothing. The one big sql file I have is full of comments (99.99999% of which are spam), no actual entires… Doh… Guess all I can do now is ask my host?

The host has no backups for those databases, so either I have it on here with my current backup or not at all… @#(ASDJ(@
