• I just wanted to let you know that this plugin was causing an error when activated on a MU website. When activated the Tools > Site Health would throw the following error.

The REST API encountered an error
    Performance
The REST API is one way WordPress, and other applications, communicate with the server. One example is the block editor screen, which relies on this to display, and save, your posts and pages.

The REST API request failed due to an error.
Error: [] cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 10000 milliseconds with 0 bytes received

  • I can confirm this. Plugin is busted and broke backend editor. Disabled and deleting this plugin fixed the issue.

I have the same problem. I don’t use an MU website, but I also get the cURL error 28 with the Site Health Tool. Disabling and deleting the plugin removes the error.

I tried this on a non-MU site and get this eror even with the plugin deleted:

The REST API request failed due to an error.
ERROR: [] cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 10001 milliseconds with 0 bytes received

I’ll try this again on a fresh installation, but my gut feel is this isn’t a problem to do with the Check Email plugin.

I had the same error today. Disabling all plugins except Woocommerce (at which point I didn’t have the error), the error showed in health check as soon as I activated Check Email. I checked several times to be sure.

    I got 2 errors:

Your site could not complete a loopback request
    Performance
Loopback requests are used to run scheduled events, and are also used by the built-in editors for themes and plugins to verify code stability.

The loopback request to your site failed, this means features relying on them are not currently working as expected.
ERROR: [] cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 10001 milliseconds with 0 bytes received

I’ve deleted the plugin, so this is FYI.
