• One of the Recommended Improvements on my Site Health list is this:

The REST API encountered an unexpected result.

The REST API is one way WordPress, and other applications, communicate with the server. One example is the block editor screen, which relies on this to display, and save, your posts and pages.

The REST API call gave the following unexpected result: (500)
    Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator at [no address given] to inform them of the time this error occurred, and the actions you performed just before this error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I’ve checked with my webhost and they can’t do anything. Being a total noob, I don’t understand what to do about it either. I’ve checked on a few other threads and I have no idea what they’re talking about. Please tell me what to check.

500 error is a server error.

Look in the server error logs and find the actual error message.

There are two most recent messages. There was nothing for today.

I have no idea what to do here.
