responsive themes – can they have image headers on subpages?

I have my landing page as a “page”. I have 4 subpages, and a LOT of pages under those subheadings (OK, a content freak). Each page has its own header image. I spent lots of time making those header images (still have a few to go), and would like to continue to use them.

In the demo of every responsive theme I’ve looked at, only the landing page has the header image. Subpages are all text. Is this required for responsibe pages? Am I missing something in the demos?
