Responsive Theme Main Image Formatting

I’m having the following problems with the responsiveness on my theme (these 2 issues appear related). I’ve left a message with the builder but haven’t heard back, even though it’s a great theme. Any help is much appreciated!

(1) On an iPhone, the main image on the main page does not appear, and
(2) on the iPad (non-landscape viewing) the main image on the main page does not re-size, so it cuts off the sides of the photo.
