    Hi there,

I have just installed TablePress and the TablePress Extension ‘Responsive Tables’.

The URL in question is https://wwwtamborinemtnccorgau.zippysites.com/accommodation/avocado-sunset-bed-and-breakfast/ and then select the ‘Rates’ Tab.

My shortcode for the table is [table id=1 responsive=”phone” /]

When I view the table in my browser and change screen-size the table responds correctly and as the screen gets smaller flips and allows a scroll bar to scroll across columns.

However when I test it out live on my smartphone (Samsung Galaxy II running Android) the scroll bar does not appear. Only 1 column shows and the only way to see the other columns is to scroll with your finger.

If I turn on the ‘Data Tables’ Horizontal Scrolling option it improves a little by showing two columns (of 4) but still no scroll bar.

Are you aware of any problems like this as I have just spent a couple of hours trying different combinations etc to no avail? Maybe you have some ideas?

    Thanks in advance.

    Regards,

    Ray

    Hi Ray,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

The reason for that is simple: Android doesn’t show scrollbars. That’s simple how scrolling in Android works, and unfortunately, there’s nothing that I’m aware of that I can change about this in TablePress or in the Extension. Sorry ??

    Regards.

    Hi Tobias,

    Thanks for your quick response.

Not your fault. I’ll have to see if I can a way around the need for scroll bars. Maybe a different table design or approach?

    Regards,

    Ray

    Hi Ray,

    no problem, you are welcome!

I’m not sure how a different table design or approach can be used here, but you are basically “suffering” from a general problem: Responsive tables. This is unfortunately very tricky, and there’s no general approach that will suit all needs ??

    Best wishes,
    Tobias
