    Hi,

I’m having a problem with the Single Answer (Radio Buttons) type question.

When I add a response option it doesn’t appear on the Response Options page. I wondered if this was just a bug in the back end but even if you link that question into a post there are no responses available.

I’ve tried deactivating the plug-in and reactivating it but this hasn’t helped. I even uninstalled the plug-in and re-installed it but this didn’t work either.

To help explain things a little better I’ve created a short (2mins) Screenr video detailing what I’m seeing: https://screenr.com/RGAN

Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

*** EDIT: I’ve just checked and the same problem also appears to be happening with the Multiple Answer (Check Boxes) type question.

    Thanks

    Simon

    Hi Simon,

Your video was, by far, the most useful bit of troubleshooting material I’ve seen thank you.
I will try and reproduce first thing tomorrow. It looked like you had just duplicated a question, or maybe imported some. Was this the case?

Either way, if I can reproduce the problem I can fix it.

    Thanks,
    Alex

    Hi Alex,

    I don’t think I’d duplicated the question. I definitely hadn’t imported any.

If you need anything else from me please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

    Thanks for your help.

    Simon,

Thanks for your patience with this. Couple of questions.

What version of WordPress are you using? Are you using the latest version of the plugin. ANd finally, did you upgrade from an older version of the plugin or start from the latest version?

Still working on it I.e. trying to reproduce the problem.

If you upgraded from a previous version can you please try deactivating and then deactivating the plugin. That may be a simple fix. I suspect a new column is not in the database.

    Hi Alex,

We are using version 3.9.1 of WordPress.

The version of the plugin that we are using is 1.4.8.

I’m not 100% sure if we upgraded from an older version. I have tried deactivating and then reactivating the plugin but this hasn’t solved it.

I already tried uninstalling the plugin completely and reinstalling it but that didn’t help either.

I don’t think it matters but the site we are using the plug-in on is part of a multi-site WordPress set-up.

At the moment I don’t have a large number of questions as we are just testing things. If I delete the plug-in again are there some other files or database elements that I would need to remove to get a completely clean re-install?

    Thanks

    Hi Simon,

Thanks again for your patience. The plugin was written from the group up with multisite in mind, and we’ve also got an multisite using 3.9.1 and 1.4.8 at Southampton.ac.uk which works fine. How strange.

I will write a simple plugin for you to activate that will entirely remove all the quiz tables and data from wordpress. You can then deactivate an reactivate again to guarantee a fresh install. Hopefully this will work.
Give me a couple of hours!

    Simon – Ok try this:
    https://www.efolio.soton.ac.uk/qtl-clear-db.zip

Install it and follow the simple instructions. This will delete all the quiz tables allowing you to do a fresh install. Please let me know how it goes. I still can’t reproduce the problem at my end using the same versions that you have ??

Regarding the above – its a standard plugin, stick it in your site plugins dir or upload via the network admin interface as usual.

    Hi Alex,

I’ll try this out as soon as I get chance.

Someone has tweaked our FTP access today meaning that we can delete files but not upload them (you couldn’t make it up!!!).

As soon as my permissions are back to normal I’ll test it out and let you know how I get on.

    Thanks

    Hi Alex,

    My permissions are fixed now…

I’ve had a chance to use the QT-clear-db plugin you linked to but unfortunately it hasn’t worked.

After following the instructions and reactivating the Quiz-Tool-Lite plugin all of my question pots and questions are still there and the issue of adding responses to the Single Answer (Radio Buttons) or Multiple Answer (Check Boxes) is still occurring.

Is there anything else we can try?

    Thanks

Ok that is strange – the questions and pots should all be gone.
That suggests either the plugin isn’t working (although I checked my end and it did delete all tables) or there are some strange permissions on your WP user meaning you can’t delete tables. I don’t know too much about permissions so can’t comment further though.

I’ll take this conversation offline as I need to ask some questions about your setup you may not want in a public forum. Whats the best email to get you on?

    Hi Alex,

Thanks for all your support. The plug-in is working great now and is just what we needed.

Your support has been beyond excellent.

    Thanks

    Simon
