I am brand new to WP and not a huge techie (but I learn fast). I’m trying to figure out how best to learn how to utilize this plugin. Is there a basic manual or tutorial somewhere? I’ve looked, but maybe not in the right place.

Do I need to learn/know first how basic “roles” work in WP? And if so- what’s my best bet to learn that?

We are doing school websites and need to have the teachers be able to login and update JUST their own pages and nothing else on the site. Plus have a small group of admin people who can update anything. Any suggestions on the best way to accomplish this using this plugin?

Thanks so much for helping the new kid on the block! Feel free to just point me in the right direction and I’ll dive into learning mode ??

OK, it’s been a few days since I posted this… maybe I’m in the wrong Forum, can someone please point me in the right direction of where to get an answer to a question like this about this plugin? Thanks so much!!

You’re in a forum for a specific plugin. I’d maybe post the initial question in the ‘How To & Troubleshooting’ forum.

Have a look at User Access Manager.

need to have the teachers be able to login and update JUST their own pages and nothing else on the site. Plus have a small group of admin people who can update anything.

You can accomplish that pretty easily with a combination of Capability Manager Enhanced and my Press Permit Core plugin as follows:

    1. Use CME to make a copy of the Subscriber role named Teacher

    2. Go to Permissions > Settings > Groups and click into [WP Teacher]

    3. On the Add Roles tab, select a role of Page Author. Click Add and then Save.

Users whose primary role is Teacher will now be able to edit any page which they created, or for which they have been designated as Author.

If you don’t want Teachers to be able to create new pages, enable this setting: Permissions > Settings > Core > Filtered Post Types > Use create_posts capability. If the Editor role or others should be able to create, give them the create_posts and/or create_pages capability.

The Administrator role will be able to create, edit or delete any page.
