    Hello,

We have had some major problems today and it looks like we’ve isolated them to the Events Calendar plugin. We have the Pro version, but our license key is expired. If the plugin is going to cause a problem, we’d rather not renew the license key.

Currently, I have all of our Events Calendar add-ons disabled. We do have caching in place (using SiteGround’s SuperCacher and its corresponding SGCache WordPress plugin). When I enable The Events Calendar, it seems as if the site is okay until the point when I enable Events Calendar Pro, after which the site starts getting Error 503 about 90% of the time. Error logs show the following (or similar):

[:error] [pid 44987] Execute of /home/<user>/public_html/index.php stopped because of load 59.71
[:error] [pid 44987] Execute of /home/<user>/public_html/index.php stopped because of load 59.71
[:error] [pid 44830] Execute of /home/<user>/public_html/index.php stopped because of load 59.74
[:error] [pid 44830] Execute of /home/<user>/public_html/index.php stopped because of load 59.74

One question is whether this is really only an issue when the Pro plugin is started, or if it’s an issue with the non-Pro plugin, but doesn’t show immediately because of the caching plugin. I do not want to answer this question if I don’t have to, because the website belongs to a client, and their site is for a local newspaper that gets a lot of traffic, and I don’t want to bring the site down just to test this unless I have to.

Either way, I haven’t seen a single 503 error with all the Events Calendar plugins turned off. The site is hosted at SiteGround on their Cloud Hosting platform, which includes a minimum of two processor cores and 4GB of RAM. This is a great plugin, but our site runs without it on a high-level shared hosting plan. We upgraded to Cloud Hosting hoping that would eliminate resource usage problems, but now this plugin seems to be testing the limits of our current Cloud Hosting tier. We would prefer not to have to pay $120 per month of hosting just to offer this plugin’s functionality to the website’s readers.

Any ideas? Thank you very much.

  • Hey @eink,

I’m happy to help out here! Thanks for using The Events Calendar. In order to help, I would like to get some more information from you, if I can:

-Can you send me a link to your site so I can see this firsthand? I’m a visual person, and I can often be more helpful in giving solutions to problems I can see and interact with.

-If you can I’d also like to get your system information (found in Events>Help section of your WP dashboard), so I can look into your specific configurations. This will help me better diagnose the issue here.

    Thanks!
    Shelby ??
